How to Root Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 on XXLQ5 ICS 4.0.4 Firmware



Users who have upgraded their Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone with the latest ICS Android 4.0.4 firmware can now root the device easily with the help of simple instructions. Please note that once you root the device, the warranty will get void. The only way with which you can revoke the root access is by re applying the update of XXLQ5 ICS 4.0.4 update. Before proceeding, you need to ensure that you are on the XXLQ5 firmware. You can check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone” where the firmware version should read as XXLPQ. If you are not on XXLQ5 firmware, then you will have to Update Galaxy S2 I9100G with ICS XXLQ5 ICS 4.0.4 firmware.

This update should only be applied to the devices which have the device model name as Samsung Galaxy S II. This should not be applied to the NETWORK LOCKED version of Galaxy S II. we should not be held responsible or liable for any sort of damage happened to your device due to not following of instructions.


Procedure to Root Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 on XXLQ5 ICS 4.0.4 update:

  • Download XXLQ5 ICS 4.0.4 Rooting Package & Odin from here to your computer. Once you download, you need to extract the same and open Odin in your computer.
  • Turn Off your phone so that it can be entered in the Download mode. Download mode in Galaxy S2 GT I9100 can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which you will get to see a green robot indicating that the device has entered in the download mode.
  • Connect your phone to computer with the help of original USB cable and then you will see that the ID : COM section in odin turning yellow.
Note: If the ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below:
    1. Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
    2. Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
      • Click on “PDA” to select “CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEN_LQ5-v5.4-CWM5” and click on “Start” to start the process of rooting. As soon as it’s completed, the device will be rebooted. The whole process of rooting will take around 2 – 3 minutes.
      • You can check whether the device has been rooted or not with the help of “Root Checker” application which can be downloaded from the Google PLAY Store.
      Note: Just in a rare case if the device is not updated and it gets into the boot loop mode, you need to again clear the cache from the recovery mode and retry the whole process from the start.
