Find Out if You Have a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 System

I have a Windows 7 computer. How do I figure out if it’s a 32 bit or 64 bit machine?

This information can be found in the System area of the Control Panel.

1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click System & Security.

The following screen will reveal basic information about your computer:

Look for the System type line — it will say either 32 bit Operation System or 64 bit Operating System.
